Wednesday 3rd September – Group 3 ride

The G3 ride tomorrow starts from Normandy Crossroads at 09h45 with tea at Secretts via Wanborough Hill (a bit of huff and puff) and Shackleford. After tea we head south-east to Plaistow via Hydestyle and Handon Copse, then west to Lythe Hill and north to Wormley.

Lunch will be at the Dog & Pheasant at Brook.

Return to Normandy via Elstead and Seale. A relaxed and beautiful ride of around 50 miles in total. Weather wise it looks set to be a good day, no rain, max temperature 22 degrees.

Two Grades 3 rides are on offer:  Ride #1 from Pinkneys Green car park at 9:45 AM.  Coffee at the Chocolate Theatre Cafe at Henley-on Thames (no longer at Studley Green cafe).  50 miles approx, gently undulating (not hilly), will keep to good roads but a few may be gravelly due to Monday’s heavy rain. Please bring 20p for the bridge crossing at Whitchurch-on Thames.

Ride #2 from Chobham Museum r’bout, at 9:45 AM, courtesy of Chris Williamson. Coffee either Savill Garden or Dorney. Lunch at Blackwood Arms in Burnham. Overall about 50 miles or so with a couple of stiff hills.

See you there!

WMW Grade 3 ride – Pinkney Green 27 Aug

I am scheduled to lead  the Grade 3 ride (not long and not hilly!) on 27 Aug. This ride is currently scheduled to depart from Pinkney Green.  In light of the very low participation of Grade 3s on this ride last year, the significant commitment expected of ride leaders as compared to riders who may decide to opt out at the last minute, and the difficulties of driving to the start point at peak London commuter traffic times, I will only lead the ride if a minimum of 3 other riders contact me to register their firm interest by Monday 25 Aug (01483 457739). Otherwise, I will lead a Grade 3 ride from the Chobham r’about.  I will announce what the game plan is early on Tues 26 Aug via “Latest News”. Note: no change to the planned Grade 4 ride; it will happen as posted on the rides list.  The Grade 4 ride leader, John Murdoch, has been known to adapt his ride if an eventual Grade 3 rider shows up at Pinkney Green.
