Slide Our Rides

 

Each week we offer a number of recreational rides aimed at different riding abilities, and we have a range of starting locations so that we can enjoy different areas of the countryside. Our rides are fun and friendly and include refreshments stops along the way.

We have five Ride Categories and we suggest you select a ride level you feel most comfortable with. Take a look at the various Ride Groups to find a ride at the right level, on a day that suits with a convenient start point (see below). Feel free to speak to the relevant Ride Group Leader for more information.

Our rides start from a variety of Start Points on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and each ride is led by experienced Ride Leaders. You can contact a Ride Leader directly if you wish.


Ride categories

Grade 1Gentle exercise for occasional or social riders, or perhaps experienced riders who no longer wish to exert themselves excessively.
Average speed is 8-10 mph, matching the slowest rider; 15-25 miles, no major hills.
Grade 2A relaxed pace, for regular riders who are prepared to cover some distance, and not afraid of the odd hill; can be half or full day.
Steady ride of 30-40 miles, 10 – 12 mph to coffee and lunch, can include some hills.
Grade 3For generally experienced riders, can visit the best areas of the Surrey hills, so climbing involved; can be half or full day.
11 – 13 m.p.h., 40-60 miles, less in winter with shorter days.
Grade 4Fast paced and sometimes long rides for the experienced and fit rider.
13 - 14.5 m.p.h, 50-60 miles.
Grade 514.5mph +, 60-70 miles

  • Aimed At: Cyclists who enjoy a steady paced ride covering some distance and enjoy some hills.
  • Pace: 10-12 mph 
  • Mileage: 20-25 miles
  • Ride Day: Sunday
  • Duration: Half Day (may be extended to lunch stop on the day on ad hoc basis)

  • Aimed At: Experienced fit cyclists who enjoy fast paced, long and hilly rides.
  • Pace: 13-14.5 mph plus
  • Mileage: 60-90 miles
  • Ride Day: Sunday 
  • Duration: All day 
  • Start Time: 09.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) 
  • Start Points: Varied – Godalming, Guildford, Farnham, Elstead, Shalford etc
