Surrey County Council has submitted a bid to the Department for Transport for £7.8 million Emergency Active Travel Fund to improve walking and cycling infrastructure.
Residents and cyclists know their local areas best so Surrey County Council created a tool https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/activetravelfund for ideas on improving cycling and walking infrastructure.

It would be great to replace all the difficult / slippery / damaged stiles in public footpaths with gates. And it would be good to fit all bridleway gates with sideways-acting handles that operate above the top of the gate to replace latches and spring-loaded bolts which are difficult to use. These changes would make it easier for everyone to use the rights of way network, especially older folk.
