The Grade 2 ride on Wednesday enjoyed lunch at the Kingsley Centre, where there is a community cafe, shop, post office, meeting hall and lots more – excellent facilities for a small village. Hot drinks just £1 each! Usually food is available in the cafe, though we had sandwiches from the shop as the catering staff were busy preparing a community Christmas meal.

Roger Philo commented that it’s nice to support social enterprises, which got me wondering how many more we can visit.

    I can think of:

Milland Community Shop – nice food and loads of seating, especially in the summer.

Lodsworth Community Shop – very nice food and hot drinks. Seating only outside.

Hambledon Village Stores (a community enterprise) – home made cakes, custom filled rolls, excellent coffee. Limited seating: 2 or 3 inside, another 8 or so outside, and benches by the pond.

Can you recommend other community shops I might like to try?
