Club Cycle tops

The order for the next batch of cycle tops is about to be despatched, and I am pleased to confirm that the price (apart from the ladies pro-cut jerseys, for which I only have one order) will be no higher than the indicative prices advised on 17th November, and could even be lower. I have received many orders (which keeps the price down) but it appears that some have relied on a previous expression of interest and have not confirmed that order since 17 November.  If that is is the case, please advise me as a matter of urgency, as the only orders I am placing are for those requests received after 17 November.   In order that you may check, I am placing orders for Roger Philo (2 jerseys), Chris Jeggo (2), Arthur Twiggs (2), Phil Gasson, Julian Allen, Tim and Debbie Richards, Louise Gagnon, John and Jane Gilbe, Peter

Club Cycle Tops – update

I am pleased to say that I have received plenty of orders for the West Surrey Cycle Tops (see post of 17 November) which means that we should be able to at least match the advertised indicative prices of £38 per jersey (£44 for ladies as superior quality, being “pro-cut”), plus £2.80 for long sleeves and £8 for winter fabric.  However, it also means that any additional orders placed now will not only benefit from that low price, but could also bring the price down even further (the supplier discount increases with increased quantity ordered).  Therefore, if you think you might like a Club jersey at some time in the future, now is the time to order.  Just contact me to place an order, or for any enquiries you might have.  Closing date for orders remains Sunday 23rd November. Wednesday 19 November 2014 Ride

Wednesday 19 November dawned sunny and not too cold, resulting in a massive turnout of riders. Yours truly met everyone at coffee at Watts Gallery and reckoned there must have been around 40 of us – I may be wildly out but it seemed a lot. No fewer than four groups headed off in various directions to enjoy the fabulous autumn colours which seem to just get better and better this year. The question is, will we be seeing leaves on the trees at Christmas this year? If we do, then we’ll know for sure that the world really is screwed up – actually, did we ever doubt it! As usual I was torn between riding with the fast boys and girls in group 4 or whether to have an easier day with the group 3s; I opted for the 3s led today by Chris Williamson. The route was a

Sunday Ride with the Sunday All-Day Riders ~ 16 November 2014

Nine of us met at Godalming Station at 9am and the weather was mild and dry, so a happy group set off southwards to coffee at Wisborough Green. Cyclists everywhere as usual and loads at the café – luckily we got seats in this tiny but delightful stopover – the coffee’s good too! Don Jones turned up to see us – he wasn’t riding owing to a neck issue; Don, you need to be more careful with that violin playing! Next we headed east towards Southwater and then Horsham for one of our favourite cafés – the one in the Park, where the food and drink is very reasonably priced: and what a change that makes! I reckon you need a good £15 to cover coffee and a modest lunch – today I got away with about £11. Good to see Paul Holmes here but he didn’t stay long with

new Ride Leaders

A new page has been added describing how we nominate and qualify our Ride Leaders. This procedure has become vitally important, not least because our insurance policy demands that all Ride Leaders are suitably qualified. (Club Stuff>New Ride Leaders)

Shades of Autumn

Yes, folks, we’re deep into the autumn season: winter definitely hasn’t arrived (thank goodness!) and autumn just goes on being really pretty wonderful. Here then are a few images from a couple of rides undertaken by your Chairman in early/mid-November which I hope convey the atmosphere of this fantastic time of year. Amazingly, the trees are still looking quite green, but they’re turning and the forecast is for a stormy month ahead; we never know when the weather is going to start being difficult but they reckon it’s coming up soon. So, weather, do us a favour and don’t rush – we’re loving the cycling! Photography isn’t easy at this time of year owing to low light levels; when the sun shines, there’s a lot of contrast between the shadows and the bright bits which the sun’s rays are shining on, so the quality isn’t high, but I hope my
